Documentation of statistics Government sector: Government administrative branches, municipalities, other public institutions, and the private non-profit sector.
The class 'other education' includes missing education data for the HE sector.
The data of the university sector for 1973 and 1977 are estimates.
The data for the public + PNP sectors, the university sector and the combined R&D expenditure and staff-year data of all sectors for 1985 are estimates.
The university sector includes university central hospitals starting from 1997 and universities of applied sciences from 1999.
The public sector includes municipalities from 2007 onwards.
The statistical method of the university sector was renewed in 2011.
The Register of Completed Education and Degrees has been supplemented with qualifications and degrees attained abroad, which increases the number of highly educated persons in 2019 in the university sector.
